Thoughts of Bethany

The first time I remember meeting Bethany was when my family went over to her family’s house after church one Sunday. I ignored her and my sister and played with Micah and his Micro Machines. In these early years,

Thoughts of Bethany

It is not possible for me to say anything about Bethany that would adequately show how special and wonderful she was. My thoughts about her are plentiful, but hard to put into words.

Poem from Lynn

I found a poem, that I think was made into a hymn, that I sent to Bethany before her surgery. I told her that I was praying for this kind of faith for me and for her.

Faith

“If there is an all-powerful, loving God who is accomplishing His purposes behind the scenes, then we must never look at our present circumstances and conclude that what we see is all there is to reality.

Bethany’s Song

Daddy, let me dry your tears,
Mama, let me mend your heart,
Brother, let me hold your hand,
You see, we’re not so far apart.

I’m here with all that you hold dear,
The fall leaf dancing cross the wind,
The one bright star on dawning sky,
The blaze of sunset round the bend.

And though we won’t be face to face,
I promise evermore to wait.
I’ll breathe in God’s eternal love,
And watch for you at Heaven’s gate.

Thoughts of Bethany

"I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out."

-Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Personal Statement

I have always had, and always will have, a strong sense of gratitude for my situation in life, particularly the freedoms that I enjoy in the United States of America. In conjunction with that gratitude, I feel equally responsible as a citizen to uphold, protect, and ensure those benefits for myself, my family, and for generations that will follow.

Bethany ’s Song

It’s never quite as still
As when I sit and stare
Into your eyes I wander off again
Cause when I think of you
You’re only washed away
By fear and doubt
And every breathe I take.
